Executive Helicopters is an IAA approved Flight Training Organisation (FTO). We started flight training in 1999 and have been growing from strength to strength since. Executive is Ireland's formost commercial training facility. Executive has a state of the art facility, top class instructors and a reputation that exceeds itself. Proof shown by the number and standard of the students which have qualified with Executive, many of our students having gone on to top jobs in every sector of aviation from instructing, offshore oil , scheduled services to fireflighting in Spain. We offer Commercial Pilot Training (CPL), Private Pilot training (PPL), Night Qualification's, as well as type rating conversions on Robinson R22 & R44, Eurocopter EC120 & EC130 and Bell 222 helicopters.
Tailor made packages are also for International Students in conjunction with the Galway Cultural Institute who wishes to convert to JAA while enhancing their English for the English Proficiency Test. Packages include affordable professional English lessons classes/ accommodation and transport, all custom made per each students own requirements.
Below is an outline of a typical Commercial Helicopter Pilot Training programme having aquired a PPL licence;
CPL (H) candidates will be required to pass written exams in the following subjects:
Aviation Law Aircraft General Knowledge Flight Performance and Planning Human Performance and Limitations Meteorology Navigation Operational Procedures Principles of Flight VFR Communications
These written exams are to be taken at an external Ground school.
Flying Experience 155 hours flying experience on helicopters Pilot in Command is the minimum requirement When a student has acquired the minimum requirerments above they can commence the final module This course consists of 35 hours of flight training (which includes a night rating), with a total of 185 hours required before you can obtain the CPL (H) licence. the final Flight Test, consisting of three parts:
General Handling Navigation Instrument Flight
Medical Students are also required to hold a valid class 1 medical certificate for the CPL (H) which can be obtained by attending the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin for a full day’s medical assessment. Note: A CPL (H) licence cannot be obtained without passing the Class 1 medical first.
Once you have successfully completed the Licence Skills Test, you will be granted your Commercial Pilots Licence (Helicopter).

The Personnel Licensing Office accepts applications for the conversion of National Pilot Licences, Instrument Ratings, Class and Type Ratings and Instructor Ratings issued by the Irish Aviation Authority into JAR-FCL Licences and Ratings. You need JavaScript enabled to view it FEE The current fee for conversion to a JAR-FCL CPL or ATPL, including associated ratings, is €363.00. Conversions It is not possible to convert a non-JAR-FCL CPL/ATPL into an Irish issued JAR-FCL CPL/ATPL, since Ireland implemented JAR-FCL in November, 2000. However, it is possible to obtain credits for such licences towards the issue of a JAR-FCL licence in accordance with the requirements of JAR-FCL 1.016, 2.016 or 3.016, as applicable. Theoretical Knowledge and Flight training credits will be determined by the Irish Aviation Authority who will seek guidance from anappropriate training organisation. Training In addition to Irish Aviation Authority approved training organisations, training for licence issue may also be completed under the authority of any other JAA member State who will issue you a JAR-FCL licence. Any JAR-FCL will be accepted without formality for operation of Irish registered aircraft or the aircraft of any other JAA state.
